The Houston Dynamo have re-signed defender Bobby Boswell, it has been announced by the club on Thursday night. Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear expressed his pleasure to sign the 28-years-old to a new one-year contract for approximately $200,000.
“I’m very happy (Boswell) has re-signed and will join us for what will hopefully be a very successful 2012.” Kinnear said.
“He’s a very good organizer, a vocal leader on the field, which was necessary for this team.”
Boswell began his professional career with D.C. United as a discovery player and earned a starting spot in the club’s defense. During the 2006 MLS season, Boswell was the starting centerback for United, who finished the with the best regular season record and won the Supporters’ Shield.
Boswell was traded by United to Houston Dynamo at the end of the 2007 MLS Season, he played 112 goals for Dynamo and registered seven goals,
“I wanted to be here,” Boswell said. “I realize that there’s money available at other places, maybe a little more money, but I enjoy my setup here. I enjoy playing in Houston. I’m comfortable with my family. Obviously it didn’t make a whole lot of sense to renegotiate.”
Boswell also made three appearances for the US national team, making his debut on February 19, 2006, in a 4-0 victory against Guatemala.
